Blended Learning – IOSH Working at Height Awareness
Incidents that occur whilst working at height make up the largest percentage of overall injuries offshore*. This is due, in part, to the nature of the work but also sometimes due to human error. This course aims to educate the learner on correct and safe practice when working at height. The course covers: when it is appropriate to work at height; current legislation that impacts the work; fall protection systems that are commonly used when working at height; and how to formulate and execute an effective rescue plan.
The Working at Height Awareness course is a blended learning course, which provides learners with a one-hour eLearning course that delivers and assesses the fundamental, underpinning knowledge relating to work at height. This is then further supported by a one-day practical training session, which can be conducted in a training facility or in the workplace e.g. an onshore or offshore platform or vessel. The learning outcomes from the eLearning course relate directly to the equipment used, and exercises performed, during the practical exercises carried out in the workplace. The delegates are assessed performing a number of practical tasks prior to them being deemed as competent to pass the course.
