Small Bore Tubing Awareness (Coned and Threaded)

Small Bore Tubing Awareness (Coned and Threaded)

Instructor Led – Small Bore Tubing Awareness (Coned and Threaded)

This course is aimed at any person working with small bore tubing, coned and threaded. Pipes and tubing are an integral part of both onshore and offshore operations, so there is an ongoing need for them to be efficiently constructed and maintained. This course focuses on how to assemble, maintain and check small bore tubing, coned and threaded. Also discussed are related adaptors and valves that can be used with this type of piping and how to correctly identify and fit components that are applicable. Health and safety procedures are also detailed.

The material covered in the Small Bore Tubing Awareness (Coned and Threaded) course is instructor led, including interactive classroom activities.

  • HCR history and issues
  • SBT systems
  • Fitting details and identification
  • Assembly instructions
  • Installation and maintenance
  • Adaptors and valves
  • Health and safety

Small Bore Tubing Awareness (Coned and Threaded)

Training Course Objective

The Small Bore Tubing Awareness (Coned and Threaded) course is aimed at any person working with small bore tubing, coned and threaded. Pipes are an integral part of both onshore and offshore operations, so there is an ongoing need for efficient construction and maintenance of pipes.

The material covered in this course is instructor led, including interactive classroom activities. Course topics and activities include:

  • HCR (hydrocarbon releases) history and issues: Being aware of past equipment inspection and maintenance schedules acts as an effective early warning monitoring system for potential future incidents.
  • SBT systems: A sound knowledge of the various systems so as to aid the construction and laying of pipes.
  • Fitting details and identification (low, medium and high pressure): Calculating how much pressure a pipe will be exposed to.
  • Anti-vibration fittings: Specification of correct fittings to mitigate the effects of vibrations.
  • Assembly instructions (including torqueing): Being able to understand assembly instructions and perform assembly procedures effectively.
  • Installation/maintenance practices: Describing installation and future maintenance requirements and procedures.
  • Adaptors and valves: Knowledge of which adaptor/valve should be used.
  • Material selection: Picking the correct material for a pipe based upon the material that the pipe is going to be transporting.
  • Health and safety: This course focuses on how to properly maintain and identify piping and tubing, identify components that need to be replaced, and the current legislation regarding the equipment in order to prepare work safely and ensure best practice.
Outcome

Upon completion of the classroom element of the Small Bore Tubing Awareness (Coned and Threaded) course the learner will possess the necessary theoretical knowledge required safely assemble, inspect and maintain small bore tubing.
